QualitEE Project Provides Valuable Input for A New European Standard on Energy Performance Contracting
16/10/2019
The QualitEE project recently collaborated with partners and energy efficiency experts to hold a conference in Madrid from 8th to 10th October. The conference consisted of a series of project meetings and a public workshop where several insightful discussions took place to explore the prospects of quality assurance for Energy Efficiency Services.
During the European Advisory Board Meeting held on 9th October, partners were joined by Ettore Piantoni, who is an industry expert leading a group at European standards body CEN-CENELEC that is about to embark on the development of a new European standard on Energy Performance Contracting. Ettore engaged in discussions with QualitEE partners regarding the status and structure of national quality assurance schemes being developed across Europe. Through these discussions and exploration of the project’s draft technical guidelines for Energy Efficiency Services, QualitEE partners provided Ettore with some ideas to be considered in the development of the new EPC standard.
QualitEE partners were also joined by over 15 industry experts and stakeholders for a Public Workshop held on 10th October. Through panel discussions, energy efficiency stakeholders explored the role of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) and the usefulness of quality assurance and certification schemes for EPCs in Spain and beyond.
Overall, the QualitEE conference has been successful in engaging experts and players in the sector to discuss the prospects of quality assurance schemes, alongside the wider opportunities available for Energy Efficiency Services across Europe.
